INTERNATIONAL BED AND BREAKFAST PAGES NEWSLETTER

Blooming buds, warmer weather and a bed and breakfast vacation – will put the spring back into your steps!

Cherry Blossom Festivals, beach vacations, mountain getaways…spring is the ideal time to escape from your 50 plus hour workweek or an 18 plus credit hour semester. Far away from wintry, overcast skies, warming temperatures beckon you to renew your body, mind and spirit while staying at one of our wonderfully refreshing bed and breakfasts! Here are some examples of destinations that will take you away from it all! Our first example is the historic Chateau Talaud, a small boutique hotel, situated in a prestigious 18th century Chateau surrounded by its own vineyards. The romantic "chateau-"inn is centrally located in France’s famous Provence region, close to Avignon with the historical Papal Palace, the Chateauneuf-du-Pape for "top"- Wine Tasting, l’Isle sur la Sorgue for antiquing, Orange for the Opera in its Roman theater, the Luberon for its Lavender fields, St. Remy de Provence for its Provence Market and Aix en Provence as a historical student-city. Bed and breakfast travelers can choose from luxuriously decorated rooms or rent an entire apartment, equipped with kitchen and terrace.

A little off the beaten path, but probably one of the most memorable trips you’ll ever take: The Frenkels Bed and Breakfast is located in the village of Korazim overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Framed by a young olive grove and lovingly tended flower gardens, this home contains three distinctly styled air-conditioned B&B suites with outside entrances, one of which is wheelchair accessible. Each has a bedroom, sitting room, cable TV, wireless Internet, mini-fridge, coffee-tea corner, and private bathroom. A full Israeli breakfast is served in the breakfast room overlooking the olive grove and the Sea of Galilee beyond. This wonderful inn was recommended in Fodor's Israel Guide (6th edition--p.252) and in the Lonely Planet Guide to Israel and the Palestinian Territories (p.258).

March’s Featured Recipe

Did you know that IBBP’s recipe database consists of more than 380 tried and true recipes? Here is one of them:
Louisiana Cheddar Biscuit Ya Ya Submitted by Joe and Bebe Rabhan, Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast
Louisiana Cheddar Biscuit Ya Ya.

Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising sifted flour
1/4 cup shortening
1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon Chef Paul Prudhommes Vegetable Magic Seasoning
3/4 cup milk

Steps:
Heat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl add flour, cheese and seasoning, mix well. Cut shortening into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. With a fork, stir in enough milk to form a soft dough or until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Turn dough onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth; knead just until smooth. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with floured 2-inch round cutter (a correct sized juice glass will do in a pinch). Place biscuits, just touching each other on an ungreased baking sheet (a little cooking spray wouldn't hurt, however). Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12-14 biscuits
Total preparation time: 20 minutes, Serves: 6

Share Your Experiences: Use IBBP's Reviews

To review a B&B: After you have stayed in an inn listed on IBBP, go to that specific B&B's page, and look for the "Topics for Travelers" heading on the side bar to the left of the page. Click on "Review this B&B" and submit your ratings. To read a B&B's reviews: Find out what other IBBP travelers experienced. Go to a specific B&B's page and click on the blue "Reviews" bar located under "Booking Details." If the bar is not highlighted, there are no reviews for that inn—so be sure to come back and add one after your stay! Using the information from reviews submitted by travelers like yourself, we rate an inn as follows: 5 stars=Superior, 4 stars=Excellent, 3 stars=Good. If an inn consistently rates below "Good" it becomes ineligible for IBBP membership.
