INTRODUCTION This stunning villa is in the middle of a Wildlife Reserve and very near Salamanca (World Heritage City) and Toro (wineries). The house has its own Wine Tasting Room where tastings are done in Spanish or English seeing rose, red and white wines from D.O. Rioja, Toro, Ribera de Duero as well as other wines like French or Californian. Stays are delicious at the house where melodic sound of the fountains spread out from the patio to the house. Connected to a spectacular garden is the first floor with open kitchen and living-room. Sun comes greatly through huge windows. Four double and colorful rooms are at this floor. Loft is on top floor with four beds with kitchen, living-room and bathroom. Organic cleaning products are used and small details make unforgettable our costumer´s stay. The house, the WildLife Reserve, the restaurant La Malvasía with stylish cooking, the Wine Tastings, the guided visits to wineries and the nearby jewel city of Salamanca makes from Castronuño a paradise. WILDLIFE RESERVE Castronuno is in the middle of the Nature Reserve for Birds in the Duero River. From the pointview you can see the sunset; storks, young eagles, lapwings and other birds sing like in a symphony; the river takes lilac and mauve colours and it seems like something is going to break at that time. THE VILLA The house is in the village. It is comprised of two houses: The ground floor has four double rooms, each with its own bathroom. This house has a living-room and kitchen. The top floor is a just restored loft which has its own bathroom and kitchen. The capacity of the house is as it follows: the ground floor has a capacity for 8 people. The loft has a capacity for 2 people. In total the house has capacity for 10 people. The ground floor has a living room and kitchen (complete service). The house has just been restored, and so, furniture is completely new, as well as the kitchen has microwave, oven, washing machine, refrigerator and glass-ceramic hub. There is ADSL for Internet, TV and heating. The loft has a big kitchen (oven, glass-ceramic hub, refrigerator, washing-machine and complete service) and a nice living room with a pacer and relaxing sofs. There is ADSL for Internet, TV and heating. The ground floor has four bathrooms: they are integrated into each room. Each bathroom has hydro-massage hand-held shower. The bathroom of the blue room has a bathtub and the rest of the rooms have hand-held showers. The loft has a bathroom provided with a hydromassage hand-held shower and bathtub. Garden is a huge and beautiful one with excellent outdoor furniture. WINE TOURISM Castronuño belongs to the Toro route. Toro is a D.O. (The Denominación de Origen, abbreviated D.O., is a prestigious product classification which is awarded to food products such as wines, cheeses, sausages and hams that are produced in designated Spanish regions according to stringent production criteria. D.O. labels serve as a guarantee of quality). The just opened Enoturismo (Wine Tourism) Office in Valladolid (www.valladolidenoturismo.com) has classified six wine routes, being the Toro route the fourth of them. We can drive you to visit D.O. Toro, Ribera de Duero and Rueda wineries to see wine elaboration process. We offer you a guided wine tasting in which ten wines from different varieties and areas will be tasted. First, aromatic and fresh white ones from D.O. Rueda, passing by body red ones from D.O.Toro to finish with gentle sweet Spanish wines. Wine tastings are always a chance for you to initiate into making process wine knowledge as well as sensory analysis. The duration goes from two to three hours and the fees are 15 euros each person. SWIM POOL The pool in Castronuño is five minutes walking from the house. From the pool to the house there is a nice walk where black poplars and other trees shade the path. On your way to the pool you will find the sports complex, the tennis court, the football pitch and a small and nice park for the kids. Into the pool area you will find a coffee shop, a shaded place and some tables. Everything is very nice. There you can eat, drink coffee and shakes. WALKING You can walk by La Senda de los Almendros route (The Path of the Almonds) (pictures). This path goes to San José dam, borders the Reserve and goes up to Castronuño drawing a circle. There is other longer route (GR-14). Call us if you need more information. There are also other non official routes. FARM TOURISM You can visit us to our farm (3 kms from the house) and pick the natural products of our vegetable garden (tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins, watercress, peppers, egg plants, lettuces, plumbs, cherries, apples, pears, grapes, nuts, walnuts, melons, watermelons). You can come to the garden, DO THE SHOPPING AT THE GARDEN and so enjoy seeing your products just reaped or we can SERVE IT TO YOU to the house if you prefer doing anything else (swimming-pool, walking, biking, excursion). (We can set up for you a picnic, for example). We can also COOK for you. The products from the vegetable garden don´t have any pesticide, they are organic. You can ride by the sandy paths in the pine groves, go up crests and distinguish the Reserve and the river. Riding classes are taught into the riding school and the fees are 6 euros (40 minutes). The fees for just walking are 12 euros (one hour and 15 minutes). FISHING By the Duero river. CASTILLA Y LEÓN Castilla y León is a magic place plenty of castles, monasteries, cathedrals, royal monuments, world heritage sites, Archaeology (Roman Villas and very old villages), Vernacular Architecture (fountains, mills, granaries, underground wine cellars and more) Museums and Universities. There is a fantastic Natural Spaces Network which includes Natural, National and Regional Parks, Natural Monuments and Natural Reserves (Castronuño). The gastronomy is definetely delicious: jamón ibérico, lechazo castellano, tortilla de patata, judías blancas. We have excellent chefs cooking wonderful plates like fritada de puerros, canelones de morcilla, crema de cebolla, cocido, judiones de la granja, alcachofas rellenas, manitas de cerdo, queso de cabra, rabo de toro... and such delicious tastes to drive yourself crazy... You can try this gourmet with our chef (Ángel Otero) in Castronuño at La Malvasía restaurante. Castilla y León has gained prominence among the grape and wine-growing regions in Spain. The most important wine-growing areas in the market for quality wine are found along the río Duero (Duero river). Over 400 quality wine-making bodegas (wine cellars / distilleries) are home to the Denominaciones de Origin or DO's (appellations d'origine) such as Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Cigales, Toro and Bierzo and are protected by the regulating council in each area. In our house we offer both: guided visits to the wine cellers (D.O. Toro and Ribera de Duero) as well as Wine Tasting at our tasting room in the house. (They are done by our expert at Viticulture and Oenology Esteban Celemín).
