Here at Dormouse House, Christmas is a very special time. Join Lisa and Jack and the menagerie for a welcoming family style Christmas combining French and American traditions.The house will be decorated with 2 trees absolutely covered with antique glass ornaments(guaranteed to be the prettiest you have ever seen!) and the house will be full of home made goodiesand traditional French treats! This luxurious but very homey package includes a 3 night stay in one of our lovely rooms, especially decorated for the season with flowers and greenery and charming Christmas decorations. Your holiday feast is included - a roast turkey or capon (traditional in France)with Lisa's very special bread and sausage stuffing,generous side dishes, your choice of a bottle of excellent wine OR champagne, and a gorgeous 'buche de noel'(yule log cake, traditionally served to bring warmth to the home for the new year.) Guests will also wake up to an extra special breakfast the next day served when they like beside a log fire. The house will be filled with Christmas music from a large collection which adds to the festive atmosphere. This total package for 2 persons, 3 nights, including the Holiday feast, special breakfast, exquisite decor, small gift, and bottle of champage is 650 euros per couple. An additional person (view room)costs 200 euros; an additional 1 or 2 persons (Blue room) costs 500 euros. kindly inquire regarding parties up to 6 persons.Additional days are at our normal December rates (high season). Did you know that New Year's eve is considered even more important than Christmas in France?? It is a very important celebration here called St. Sylvestre after the saint who is celebrated that day.Paris is ablaze with lights and occasionally a light dusting of snow or frost glittering on the trees.
Please note that the Christmastide special is available during New Year's and kindly refer to that special for details.
Also, note that the Paris metro is FREE from New Year's eve until the next morning!

Theme of Special 4: Culinary package
Learn French or Italian cooking in a relaxed private class!

At Dormouse House you (and up to 1 other person) can take a fun, relaxed cooking class tailor EXACTLY to your interest, taste, and level. Lisa taught cooking and did catering in San Francisco (and is the daughter of a cooking school teacher there) and continues the tradition here in France. You can choose to concentrate on a type of dish or technique, eg, desserts or a particular category of dessert (cakes, tarts...), or make an entire meal (inc. help in 'timing' a meal), either family style or for an elegant party. You may wish to concentrate on a classic dish or technique (cream puffs, genoise, roast chicken,risotto, bread making) or a particular style of cooking, such as low fat, quick family dinners, etc. We will discuss your needs/interests and then I will develop a program. Classes normally take an afternoon and afterwards there is either a meal or a tasting of what you have learned to make. Prices vary depending on the program, but are in the range of about 100-125 euros per private lesson (ask about a rate for additional persons.) inc. the meal or tasting and recipes to take home. Trips to the local market can also be arranged if desired at additional cost.
